We started the year off by heading to our condo on Molokai in February

April 5, 1997

Justin is 21!Our baby Justin is 21 years old!

After Justin's birthday in April, we took off for a trip to California.
Do you wanna see those photos too?
Yes. Heck NO!

Then in May, Elna and I flew to Anchorage for a wedding
and vacationing with some old friends.
If our California trip is too boring for you, we have Alaska photos.
Yes? Of course Not!

Karl and Jana Kolthoff came up to visit over the 4th of July
First, we took a boat to Stehekin, on Lake Chelan

Then we had quite an adventure on a jet boat trip
up the Snake River into Hell's Canyon.
We spent the night 90 miles upriver at the Sheep Creek Cabin.

These were our luxurious shower accommodations!
Pretty uptown, huh?
The yellow plastic bucket was filled with 5 gallons
of fairly warm water.

In August, we picked up Justin at WSU in Pullman, Washington
and once again took off for California, this time in our camper.
Here's your last chance to see those photos!!

We enjoyed Stehekin so much with Jana and Karl
we decided to go back in September.
This time we hiked in 14 miles from the
North Cascades Highway. Elna, Ray, and his mom
left the highway at 9 am, hiked all day, and
made it to Stehekin by 6:30 pm, just in time for dinner!

In November, we headed back to Molokai.
This time Elna's sister Irene and her husband Larry
came to visit.

Back in Sequim, we surprised Elna on her Big 50 Birthday!
We had lots of friends, and even a barbershop quartet!Elna on her birthday

Jana and Karla Kolthoff came from Bakersfield.
Karen Acton came all the way from Kingman, Arizona.
